Dear Infinity Hash community, it is our pleasure to announce Project Greenhouse; we partnered with a large-scale greenhouse farming operator to combine the synergies of Bitcoin mining, flare gas, and heat reuse technologies.

How it works – Full integration at 25% APR

Partnering with a greenhouse farming operator leads to a win-win situation.

The problem for farming

The greenhouse operator has to heat its greenhouses using natural gas throughout most of the year, with extremely high costs during winter (currently so high that they are only operating greenhouses 6 out of 12 months per year).

The solution with Infinity Hash

The greenhouse operator provides us with extremely low-cost natural gas that would otherwise be used for direct heating, while we only pay part of the gas price. We use the gas to power Bitcoin mining containers on-site and feed the generated heat into the water heating system of the greenhouses.

How is the first round of electricity mining structured?

1. One month of funds collection starting today ($100,000 for the first round)
2. One month set-up period (gas, heating, generator logistics, and 1 mining container)
3. After that, we’ll start paying 25% APR for one year (monthly payments)
4. Invested funds are unlocked after 12 months from the first day of operation

Why does the first round offer 25% APR?

Two simple reasons:

a) As soon as we have 1 container running with flare gas, we save so many costs, that we can easily provide 25% APR. One running container basically pays for itself AND enables infrastructure cost reductions to help fund the next one.

b) The earlier we have 1 flare gas container running, the faster the whole project benefits from efficiency gains. A high APR is the best way to make sure we can collect enough funds now when we need them. Getting the first gas container online as fast as possible is crucial for Infinity Hash as a project.

Why did we decide to offer electricity mining?

Due to the high costs of setting up gas generators and heat reuse technology, we chose to separate parts of the funding from Infinity Hash Stacks itself. This way, all IHS will benefit from the long-term efficiency gains without losing hash rate to infrastructure costs.

What about the other flare gas location?

The other flare gas location is ready for hosting containers, but we didn’t see enough investments over the last few months to justify starting to operate it (security and maintenance overhead of a second location) while our main location isn’t full yet. Getting the ball rolling with the greenhouse opportunity now is the most cost-effective and fastest way to start benefiting from flare gas and heat reuse for Infinity Hash as a project.

What are the long-term implications of Project Greenhouse?

If this first pilot setup with the greenhouse operator is successful, we are looking at a long-term partnership where our project can provide 1-2 container systems each at a high number of greenhouse farm locations. These locations are within driving distance to our main location and repair shop, enabling us to start operating with flare gas within 1–2 months. This saves all the extra costs on security, logistics, and manpower we’d need to provide for a bigger secondary location.
