Mining profits for Infinity Hash went down a lot with the price for IHS staying stable even though Bitcoin went down. Apart from this, work on dashboard updates has been resumed, and we added more details on low-power mode (LPM) at the farm, current miner prices, as well as a profitability outlook in the lower half of the article.

With the team back from holidays and conferences, we have started work on automated monthly BTC withdrawals. This will coincide with delayed manual withdrawals via our payment provider for the next 2-3 weeks. If you have a time-critical request during this maintenance timeframe, please contact our support team.
Apart from this, we made progress on the new auto-compounding UI on the main page of the dashboard and are nearly done with clarifying additional compliance challenges in regard to selling IHS in the dashboard. The auto-compounding UI should be finished around the beginning of next week, followed by marketplace updates.

Preparing for snow and maintenance
In order to be as well prepared as possible for the snow forecast for this week, all containers were checked and filters replaced to prevent snow from entering the containers and to protect the miners. In addition, weekly tasks such as repairs and PSU replacement, cleaning, and checking the ferns were carried out. During this process, a broken fern was discovered and repaired.
Older miner models now in low-power mode (LPM)
As you might have noticed, the Bitcoin price took a nosedive over the last few weeks, resulting in our older miner models (Whatsminer M50 and Antminer S19) operating at neutral profitability. To increase their efficiency, we have tuned affected models to operate in low-power mode (LPM) for now, resulting in lower electricity costs at higher efficiency at the cost of some hashrate.
You can see the effect of this in the lower displayed hashrate in our Pula ViaBTC (from about 145 PH/s to about 125 PH/s within since 2 weeks ago). We’ll inform you as soon as anything for the older models changes or in case we have to take further measures.

Current miner prices and profitability outlook
New Whatsminer M60 models are below $2000 right now. If we as a community want to increase efficiency, we have to do so now by buying more new miners with high efficiency within the near future to profit from it long-term. If we don’t, profits for Infinity Hash will slowly go down long-term, and it will be harder to achieve the same efficiency gains by acting later.
As you might know from our roadmap, we have 3 high-quality containers ready to take up to 240 miners each, which are already paid for by the community. TLDR: In case you have been planning or are planning to buy more IHS, the team’s assessment would be that from this October to early November is a good time to do so in general. It is a crucial time for the project specifically.
Based on how Bitcoin mining works, we are estimating either a proper Bitcoin price increase over the coming weeks or a significant decrease in the speed the mining difficulty has been growing with. Luckily for the project, those metrics coincide with an annual weakening pattern of the currency we have to pay our electricity in vs. the US dollar, which would—given we see the same effect play out this year—result in an effective decrease in electricity costs for the whole project.
